Buyer planning guide
How should I review a custom bag artwork proof?
A buyer Q&A on artwork revisions, logo placement, colour references, detailed text and approval records for custom canvas totes, backpacks and travel bags.

What should I send with the artwork file?
Send the artwork together with a short placement brief. Identify the bag type, the intended decorated panels and the finished artwork dimensions, including units. Describe which side is the front and show the orientation when the bag is carried. For a canvas tote, mark the relationship between the design, opening and handles. For a backpack or travel bag, identify the specific pocket or panel instead of describing the logo as simply centred.
Include a preview showing the intended appearance and identify the source file that belongs to it. List any text that must remain unchanged, including website spelling and punctuation. If several people supply files, appoint one person to collect the current version. A reviewer should be able to connect the file, preview and placement instructions without choosing between competing attachments or guessing which design represents the order.
How do I stop an old logo from reaching the approval record?
Give every artwork revision a clear reference and keep that reference on the proof and written comments. When replacing a file, state which earlier version it replaces and explain the change. Avoid sending a new attachment under an indistinguishable filename while leaving the original instructions active. A correction to a web address, a colour or the logo size should produce a reviewable revision rather than an informal message detached from the proof.
Keep one list of accepted files for each bag version. If your project includes different departments or events, connect each artwork reference to the matching construction and requested quantity. Ask the written proposal to use those same references. Before approval, compare the current proof against the source file and the change list. Archive earlier versions separately within your project records so they cannot be mistaken for the accepted design.
What should I check on a placement proof?
Read the placement dimensions rather than judging only the visual balance of a mock-up. Check artwork width and height, distance from the opening or panel edge, and orientation on each decorated side. Identify the reference point used for each measurement. A design positioned relative to the full bag outline can differ from one positioned relative to a visible pocket. Ask the proof to show the construction feature your measurement refers to.
Review handles, seams, closures and pockets alongside the artwork. Mark any area where the design must remain uninterrupted, and ask for the proposed placement on the selected construction. If the bag dimensions change, review placement again rather than carrying over the previous approval automatically. Treat a screen mock-up as a record of the proposed layout. Use the physical sample review to check that layout on the actual bag.
How should I record the colours I want?
Separate the fabric colour from every artwork colour. Identify the colour reference supplied for each and keep it with the current design file. If a physical reference is part of the brief, give it a project reference and record what it represents. A photograph of a reference bag may explain the overall appearance, but the written brief should specify which colours and features you want reviewed.
Ask how the proposed decoration will be assessed on the chosen material. Review the sample against the agreed references and write down any requested adjustment. Keep colour comments specific: identify the affected design area and the reference being compared. Avoid approving an entire project through a general comment about how the preview looks. A colour decision should remain connected to the material, decoration proposal and sample version used for that decision.
What if my design contains small text or a detailed logo?
Identify the details that must remain readable and provide their intended finished size. Check every word in the proof, including punctuation, capitalization and contact information. Review the design at its intended dimensions instead of relying on an enlarged screen view. If a reviewer proposes a simplified mark or a different size, request a revised proof and assess the effect on the complete layout before accepting the change.
Ask which decoration method is proposed for the selected material and construction, and request review of the detailed areas on the sample. Do not assign a universal minimum lettering size or assume a method from the category photograph. Keep approved wording and approved appearance as separate checklist entries: correct spelling alone does not establish acceptable legibility. Record any agreed artwork adjustment in the source file and the proof reference.
Does approving artwork also approve the whole bag?
Record the scope of each approval explicitly. An artwork proof review can cover wording, dimensions, placement and colour references while construction details remain in their own specification. Keep the fabric, finished bag dimensions, compartments, handles, straps and closures in the project record alongside the artwork. For a custom backpack, approval of the front logo should not leave the pocket layout without a matching accepted drawing.
During sample review, compare the physical bag with both records. Check artwork orientation while carrying the bag and access to pockets and closures with the intended contents inside. Write down each accepted detail and each requested revision. Ask whether a construction change affects the artwork placement and review the revised combination. Keep the approval statement precise enough that another person can identify the accepted bag and design without reconstructing the conversation.
What should the final artwork approval record contain?
Keep the bag specification reference, accepted artwork filenames, proof revision, colour references and sample reference together. Identify the decorated panels and record the accepted dimensions and placement. Include the reviewer and the approval date in your own record. If several versions are ordered, list each version separately so a shared logo does not conceal a different placement or construction.
Before accepting the written order, compare its references with the approval record and resolve any difference in writing. For JINYU, the legal entity is Shaanxi Jinyu Kitchenware Co., Ltd. (陕西金宇厨具有限公司). Send your custom canvas tote, backpack or travel bag brief through the inquiry page with the current attachments and requested quantity. Keep artwork decisions with the specific project; warranty and return arrangements belong in its written order terms.
