Buyer planning guide
Non-woven bag sizes: how do W × H × D, centimetres and inches compare?
Compare non-woven bag sizes in cm and inches, including 38 × 42 × 10 cm and 40 × 35 × 15 cm examples, and learn how to read width, height and depth.
What does W × H × D mean on a JINYU non-woven bag page?
The letters describe the body: W is width, H is height and D is depth. On JINYU's standard non-woven bag pages, these are outside measurements. Separate handles sit outside that size reference. For example, JY-PL-01 STD measures 38 × 42 × 10 cm, meaning a body 38 cm wide and 42 cm high, with a depth reference of 10 cm.
Carry the labels along with the numbers. A supplier drawing may arrange its dimensions differently, so an unlabelled sequence can lead someone to mistake height for depth. A front view and a side view make the intended edges easier to follow. Add the product code and variant to both views so the drawing stays tied to the right bag.
Keep handle measurements in their own part of the inquiry. Body height alone says nothing about handle drop or total height in use. For a display hook or carrying arrangement, mark the required handle clearance separately.
Why do flat and gusseted totes share the same width and height?
Matching front dimensions can conceal a different construction. JY-PL-01 FLAT and JY-PL-01 STD both have a 38 × 42 cm body and use 80 GSM PP non-woven material. FLAT has no depth gusset, while STD includes a 10 cm depth reference. The first two figures therefore do not identify which version you mean.
Name the variant whenever you share a size. Describe FLAT as "flat, no depth gusset" and give STD its full three-part measurement. Although a flat bag bends around its contents, that movement does not establish room for a particular thick box. A packing trial with the chosen sample answers that practical question.
For another flat construction, JY-PL-03 STD is a 30 × 40 cm D-cut bag with an integrated carry opening. Its body height includes the handle area; it does not specify the clear packing height beneath it. Mark where the contents will sit on a sketch, keeping them below the opening.
How do I convert the bag dimensions from centimetres to inches?
Start with the exact relationship between the units. NIST's SI Units - Length reference defines one inch as exactly 25.4 mm, or 2.54 cm. To change centimetres into inches, divide by 2.54. To change inches into centimetres, multiply by 2.54. Work through width, height and depth in the same order, keeping each label attached.
Using that calculation, the 38 × 42 × 10 cm loop tote STD reference becomes approximately 14.96 × 16.54 × 3.94 in, rounded to two decimal places. These inch values describe the same published reference through a conversion. They do not come from measuring another bag.
A comparison sheet is easier to check when it shows the original size alongside the calculated equivalent. Include both unit labels and explain the rounding. For a drawing supplied in inches, retain the original document and identify its converted copy with the same revision reference. Anyone checking a figure can then find its starting point.
Can I round the converted dimensions to a familiar whole-inch size?
A rounded inch size is useful for a quick comparison, provided the original size remains visible. Consider describing the 38 × 42 × 10 cm tote as "15 × 16.5 × 4 inches." Converting that description back gives 38.1 × 41.91 × 10.16 cm. The figures are similar, but rounding has changed every dimension.
Use the published centimetre size and variant when asking about a stock reference. If your contents need a different size, state the required dimensions separately and ask which available reference can be assessed. This keeps an approximate description from becoming an unintended change to the bag request.
Calculated decimal places also need context. They show the result of arithmetic, without establishing how precisely a bag is made. Agree on the measurement method and record any agreed dimensional tolerances in the written specification. Check a sample against the original drawing in its original unit; introducing another rounded conversion makes differences harder to interpret.
How should I compare outside dimensions with the space my contents need?
Begin with the whole pack you intend to carry. Measure it in the intended position, including its retail box, wrapping and inserts. Record those dimensions as contents measurements, then place the bag's outside dimensions beside them. Keeping the two sets clearly labelled helps prevent a body measurement from being mistaken for usable internal space.
Seams, folds and the shape of the opening all matter when inserting or removing a rigid item. The JY-PL-02 STD gusseted shopper measures 40 × 35 × 15 cm and is listed at 90 GSM. It is wider and deeper than JY-PL-01 STD, yet shorter. Decide which dimension matters to your pack before choosing a sample; "large" leaves that distinction unclear.
Test the complete pack in the selected sample, including taking it out again. Photograph the base and opening, plus any point where the fit is tight. Identify the product and variant in the trial record, and describe the fit you observed alongside the nominal bag size.
Which size information should I send with a non-woven bag inquiry?
Build the inquiry around an identifiable bag and an identifiable pack. Give the product code, variant, original size and unit, supported by labelled front and side views. Add the contents measurements, their packing orientation and photographs. Include observations from a sample trial, with any converted dimensions clearly marked beside the originals.
Your requested quantity and destination belong in the same message. Small-quantity non-woven orders use available stock only; request stock references to compare with your pack and confirm their availability. Catalog dimensions and photographs do not confirm current stock. Custom canvas totes, backpacks and travel bags support small-quantity custom projects, so keep those requests separate from the stock-only non-woven inquiry.
Send the inquiry to JINYU, Shaanxi Jinyu Kitchenware Co., Ltd. (陕西金宇厨具有限公司). Bring the chosen reference, dimension order, original unit, measurement method and sample record together in the written specification before ordering. When a dimension changes, identify it clearly and retain the earlier drawing for comparison.
